Direct shipments, when shipping large orders by truck (freight), use a single carrier to transport the package while indirect shipments allow multiple carriers to handle the package. Each option has its pros and cons, but we've been around awhile - since 1928 to be exact - and came up with our own reasons we prefer direct.
Time
Direct shipments are more efficient. Indirect shipments can be delayed a day or more due to sedentary time spent at the dock waiting to be handed off to another carrier.
Tracking
Direct shipments keep all tracking information in one place. Indirect shipments may make tracking more difficult because each carrier along the way has their own tracking process and paper work - leaving you to sort it out.
Lost Shipments
Ever hear the saying "too many cooks in the kitchen"? Indirect shipping is a perfect example. The more carriers handling your shipment the more transfer paperwork - leading to a higher risk of a lost shipment. You want your package delivered on time - and so do we.
Damage
Ultimately the initial carrier is responsible for damage to the shipment, however, the more carriers handling your shipment the higher the risk of damage.
